桔子，皮肉均为橙色，果顶有绿叶，酸甜多汁。可将其果皮晒干泡水或做零食，世人称之陈皮。陈皮可化痰止咳，治疗食欲不振，恶心呕吐。桔子更有喜庆、吉祥之意，每逢农历新年，国人喜食桔子，又喜将其放于礼袋之中赠与亲朋好友，愿贵人在新的一年万事吉祥。在广东过新年时，每家每户必购置一盆年桔放于家中，广东人称之为盆桔。
