Alexander Binder，1976年出生於德國南端的黑森林，幽影幢幢是每天掛在他眼簾下的風景。家鄉乏味無趣似牢籠，卻也成就了他獨一無二的創作靈感。Binder最大的娛樂是在鎮上的影帶出租店尋找各種恐怖片，深深沉溺於此不能自拔。
十四歲時母親給了Binder一台簡便的塑膠相機，自此攝影成了他的愛好。Binder就從熱愛的金屬文化和恐怖電影尋找靈感，他的模特兒通常是他熟習已久的朋友，而父親就是他最好的模特兒之一。三五好友一起走入山林踏上攝影行程，通常長達數小時甚或數天。身上只攜帶著最簡單的行囊，包括相機鏡頭和戲服面具，等待靈感與氣氛結合時刻的同時，踏在落葉殘枝上的腳步也引領著他們朝幽闇之心冒險。
Binder他所呈現的，介於人與獸，如荒野神靈的存在，就像英國藝術雙人組Tim Noble和Sue Webster的雕塑，由標本、屍體、骨骸所堆砌，投影出人的形象，將死亡的隱喻包裝在人形的影子裡。
Binder捨棄高階或專業的配備。為了方便攜帶及配合他稍嫌小巧的手掌， 他選擇了基本的Olympus單眼機身；而手邊絕大多數的鏡頭，都是他自己摸索手作完成的。不管是簡易的針眼鏡頭，或是用刮鬍刀、壓克力片、廢棄玻璃和塑膠玩具，都能成為他最佳拍照利器。旁人眼中顯得幼稚可笑的組裝鏡頭，有著他所追求的，失焦、模糊，如隔水之影不斷漫延渙散的影像，描述著山妖水怪的異想世界。
Binder自制鏡頭所為我們帶來的這個世界，對不到焦點的畫面、濃重卻又無痕暈染的色塊，找不到解釋的根基，卻似乎忠實掌握了心底潛藏的黑暗實象。明亮與黑暗瞬間交錯，擯棄傳統理性的束縛，挖掘內心深處最鮮為人知的那個陰暗角落，魑魅魍魎，白晝出行，猶如魔咒般鋪天蓋地侵蝕每一個毛孔，使觀者驚惶心跳，卻又欲罷不能。Hits the spot！
